Carved this as a gift for some Realtor friends of ours (Gibbs Realty, Inc.) that really helped us out in a time of need. Would highly recommend them if you ever have a need! Their company logo is a pineapple. A work in progress at the time of this photo, clean up and finishing still to go.
Project #13 - Rooster
Cockadoodle-doo! The pandemic and the extra time available from working from home have given us the opportunity to do something we have been talking about for several years. Get some chickens! This past Spring we got 10 chicks and to commemorate our first eggs, I carved this little rooster (ours are all hens) and put him in boots, because…why not! Inspired by a picture of a chainsaw carving I saw in a magazine. Still a bit of a work in progress.
Project #12 - Lumberjack
“Ohhh...I’m a lumberjack and I’m okay! ...”. Just finished this little guy from a Harley Refsal pattern (from Whittling Little Folk). This was my first two piece carving (the axe was carved separately), drilling the hole in the hand to fit the axe was nerve wracking!!!
Project #11 - Yorkshire Terrier Pup
Took a mini vacation last week up in the White Mountains, this also meant a week off from my weekly carving project. Truely missed the time spent carving, but, would not trade the time spent with our now 30 yr old daughter (can’t believe it!!) and our annual Birthday getaway (we share a birthday) for anything! Anyhow, back to this weeks project this little stylized “Yorkie” sits about 4 inches tall made of basswood. Took the time to rough out with a coping saw which saved a lot of time and energy! Not super familiar with the breed (we’re Black Lab people, no offense intended), but have several friends who have and love them! Took inspiration from those and some others works on the web.
