Took a break from gnomes this week. My new and amazingly inexpensive Morakniv sloyd style carving knife made quick work of the roughing out, the rest with my new favorite knife (Drake Fine Curved Detail) and a Flexcut palm gouge. This was from a tutorial found on the web.
Project #9 - Gnome Again
From the Woodcarving Illustrated magazine. A bit more ambitious than my last one. It took a few days to complete, mostly as I roughed it out completely by hand using knives. There was a lot of excess wood to remove, I can really see why bandsaws are popular!
Project #8 - Gnome
It is a hot and steamy July weekend here in the northeast, feels more like Florida. Thankfully by the lake in the shade of the trees (and no Gypsy Moth caterpillars to rain on our heads...) is a tolerable place to just sit and whittle for a few. My first ever Gnome! From a tutorial I found on the web.
Project #7 - Cow
A personal first, a carving from my own mind. I feel the cow-ness. But, something is not really working for me…
